WHMIS - Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System

Who should take this course?

WHMIS is a hazard communication system designed to ensure workers using hazardous materials, also known as controlled products, have all the necessary information to safely handle, store and dispose of these materials. WHMIS training is intended for any employee that comes in “close proximity” to a hazardous material(s).

Units

Unit One: An Introduction to WHMIS
Unit Two: Product Labels
Unit Three: Hazard Symbols
Unit Four: Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDSs)
Unit Five: WHMIS Education- Roles and Responsibilities
Unit Six: Exemptions and Restricted Applications

Time to complete

On average, about 1-3 hours. The course is self paced so you can complete training in more than one sitting - the system will remember the last chapter you completed and start you there the next time you log in. Course duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge base with the course subject matter.
